Hey, ya'll! It's been a while. I've been offline for the most part, handing some very important things in my life, my depressive episodes, the challenges that come with being 20 (plot twist: more than I'd anticipated), and most important of all my novels!
As many of you know, I am an aspiring author. My dream is to write and publish my own original novels, and writing fanfics on DeviantArt was just the beginning. I learned so much and experienced immense love and support from this community. Though I've grown and changed over the years since my first fanfics, this place and my watchers hold a very special place in my heart. I'll never erase or forget what I've created on here. Immortals, Free Me, and Ominous have paved the way for me to accomplish my dreams.
Although I'm not currently an active member of the CreepyPasta fandom like I was, I still owe so much to the community, and I want a piece of that to shine through as I continue with my career. A monument to my fanfic family.
A people have been asking about Ominous, understandably so, because its a bit... incomplete. I mentioned a few months back that I wouldn't be taking on any new Creepypasta x Reader projects, and that's still true. I don't like leaving unfinished projects lying around, but there is a very specific reason that Ominous hasn't been updated.
I may have mildly eluded to this in the past but,
I have solid plans to adapt Ominous into a standalone original novel.
What that basically means is: I love the concept of Ominous, the characters and the overall aesthetic is something I still vibe with.
I will be taking key plot and story elements from Ominous and recreating them into an original novel.
Of course, the novel won't be a "CreepyPasta novel" or just a published copy-paste of the current story (People have done this before, but I'm only interested in traditionally publishing original stories)
The novel's title will be different as well, not 'Ominous'
Character names will be changed, and some characterization/backstory will be recreated for the sake of copyright and originality.
The characters inspired by Jeff, Eyeless Jack, and other non-original characters will remain but have different names (Names will have a similar sound to the inspiration character, ex: "Jeff The Killer" is changed to "Jason Keller", "Everett Jackson" is inspired by "Eyeless Jack")
The reader POV is replaced with the 1st person POV of a named female protagonist with her own original backstory.
The romance plot will remain with some notable tweaks to create a healthy relationship between the characters. The captive element is still there, however, Jason (Jeff) plays more of a 'villain with a good heart' role instead of a sinister/psychotic one.
If you've read Ominous, you will most definitely see the references and homages to the original fanfic source. It is intentional on my part. I was excited to place those small easter eggs in the story especially for you guys who have followed the story since the beginning.
So because of this endeavor, I didn't see it productive to update Ominous in its raw, fanfic form, when I'm busy writing its inspired novel counterpart. The narratives would clash awkwardly while I try to distinguish which story elements go to what story, next thing y'know my editor and god forbid, the publishing agency, will see I accidentally called the novel love-interest "Jeff", instead of "Jason", and then also notice that they both oddly have long hair and facial scarification. Hahah...
But don't worry! Ominous will remain on here, I'm not deleting it.
There are a LOT of published, popular novels that were originally fanfictions, or whose authors started as fanfic writers.
So it's not uncommon for fanfictions to be recreated into original novels. Thank god, cause for a good year I thought I was being too ambitious and risky. I'd mentioned before that Ominous was loosely based on Beauty and The Beast, so its kind of an adaptation- of an adaptation. Anyway, I'm excited and want to give this story my all.
The unpublished draft of the story will be posted in updates on Wattpad sometime this year until it is published into a polished physical novel and e-book. These things do take time though, plus, I'm working on my author website, another novel entirely --which is almost finished drafting--, and I have to go through the arduous editing process and hiring beta readers and such for both. They won't be in officially published form this year. But the title and cover art concept will be announced soon! (I haven't decided if 'Free Me' will be adapted into a novel yet)
I will keep you all updated over this process! When things go down, you'll be the first to know! And I'm gonna dedicate the story to you all, my DeviantArt family, on the first inside page of the published book! Because I love you guys!
Thank you all so much for your continued support over the years! My gratitude is beyond measure!
See you through the screen!
